Thrifty Thursday

Hello.
How are you?

I have not done much thrifting this week. Middling son is not too good, headachy, possibly raging hormones or just raging (he is 13).
Eldest has got a cough although it seemed to only appear on Monday. He has just got his first GCSE result and he achieved an A in maths so I am a very proud mummy.
Littlest is to be a seagull in his school play tomorrow. He has informed us that he will be wearing orange flippers so that should be highly entertaining.

So what treasures have I found on my brief, sneaky outings.

I found this and ummed and ahhed over it. Since I have bought it back to my 'house at the end of the runway' I have decided I am quite fond of it. The frame is lovely and the colours are really vibrant. At the moment I am still deciding where it should be displayed in my already cluttered abode.

I always buy a vintage clutch if I see one. I have a few leather ones in a variety of colours but this is my first tapestry number. Clutch bags are brill for nights out, just enough space for important things, lipgloss, money, phone and paracetamol (incase noisy venue).
I think this will be handy for the dressed down jeans look.

I am, as you all know by now, a cat woman. Not in a black rubber suit kinda way but in a cats as pets kinda way. Just recently I have been going mad for doggies. This one is a money box and he just has a lovely face.

Yet again I have made a thrifty purchase based on packaging. It is a problem I have and it is showing no signs of easing. I have loads of vintage games in their original boxes and I must get some book shelves and make a bit of a feature of them.

A few more vintage haberdashery supplies. I always buy old hoops when I see them as they are so much nicer and sturdier than the modern ones. Buttons, as always and this amazing craft magazine were also part of the stash.
Please let me share some of the ideas it's lovely pages have to offer.

How cool is that!
I am holding some back as there is one that I might actually make and if it is good (unlikely) I will do a tutorial on it. I haven't done any tutorials yet and I am keen to brave one at some point in my blog life.

Lastly I would like to show you my up cycled sewing stool. I shared it with you last week and as a little reminder here it is in it's before state.

And here it is after.

I haven't finished the inside yet as I am still trying to work out what I am going to do with it.
I just wanted to ask you if you think that leaving the black vinyl was a good decision. It is in good condition and it is practical but it is not very pretty.....I will wait for your thoughts and make my decision accordingly.
I have used a piece of Vintage Sanderson screen printed fabric and I have trimmed it with vintage upholstery trim in a jade green.

At some point today the article featuring my home and moi will be officially appearing on the World Wide Web. After I have had a good look and made sure there are no signs of cat poo, boys pee or my big hooter I will be sure to let you know and post a link for you to follow.

Tonight I will mostly be eating feta and spinach Cous Cous, drinking tea and sorting out buttons.
I am semi vegetarian now. I have cut out red meat and I am finding it very easy apart from salami still being a bit of an issue.

Thanks for reading. X

    1. Hi Karen, I may be requiring some veggie advice actually. Can I start with, say, 2 questions...if you have time?
1, iron levels and anaemia. Slightly worried about this as I have been anaemic before and it ain't good!
2, kiddies, what do I feed them? We are all still eating fish and chicken at the mo.
lovely to hear from you and the veggies encouragement is so appreciated. X
